Got a spare $25,000?

South Korean giant Samsung has officially launched its new range of televisions, with the top-of-the-range 88-inch (2.2m) curved-screen model coming in at $25,000.

Introducing a new design which it claimed would make the TV look "like a piece of art when mounted on the wall", Samsung said its highest quality SUHD TVs are "on a completely new level to anything we have ever produced".

And they come at a price.

The 2.2m "Series 9 JS9500 TV", which will be released in Australia in June, comes in at $24,999.

The 2m version will save you $5000 and the 1.65m version will start at $10,000.

The curved TV in its natural habitat

But don't get alarmed if you have missed the boat on what SUHD means - the S stands for Samsung, and the UHD means ultra-high-definition television.

"Samsung's curved SUHD TV screens are inspired by modern and minimalist designs to provide an attractive and immersive home entertainment experience," the company said in a statement.

"The JS9500 model will feature Samsung's Chamfer bezel design, adding more depth to the TV screen."

Basically Samsung is claiming these new models produce better and more vivid colour, and look better.

The company was also claiming a faster interface to watch streaming television such as Netflix, Stan and Presto, which is half-owned by Seven West Media, owner of the West Australian.

Despite the hefty price tag, it is not a company record price.

In last 2013 the company began selling its 4KTV with a 110-inch screen, roughly the size of a king-sized bed, for about $200,000.
