Sattler, 6PR reach sacking settlement
Former radio host Howard Sattler has reached a confidential settlement with his former employer, Radio 6PR, following his sacking in July 2013.
Sattler launched legal action against 6PR after he was dismissed for asking then-prime minister Julia Gillard if her long-time partner Tim Mathieson was gay.
At the time of his sacking, the shock jock still had six months left of his contract and was subsequently seeking $500,000 in damages from Fairfax, who owns the talkback station, for breach of contract.
6PR released a statement following yesterday’s settlement.
“Today we reached a confidential settlement with Howard Sattler regarding his claims against Radio 6PR.
“We are pleased the matter is now settled and wish Howard all the best. We won't be commenting any further.”
Sattler worked at the radio station for 28 years before his dismissal.
