Newly-retired West Coast premiership player Beau Waters has made seamless transition to the corporate sector, landing a full-time job in Wesfarmers' purple circle.

The highly regarded 29-year-old has won a coveted position inside the company's business development team, where he will start as a project analyst next week

Wesfarmers' senior management ranks are firmly anchored in Dockerland with chief executive Richard Goyder and corporate affairs chief Alan Carpenter keen, long-term supporters. Mr Goyder, an AFL commissioner, is also a former board member of Fremantle.

However, Wesfarmers is also renowned for gambling on talent when it sees it.

Waters, whose career at West Coast was cut short by injury, made use of his extended periods on the sidelines to put down building blocks for a life outside of football.

Recognised for his community work, he has an MBA and is studying a Masters in Applied Finance.

Last year, he did an internship at advisory firm Azure Capital. There have also been periods of work with Linc Property Group and Lend Lease Property Group.

The business development unit identifies and pursues growth opportunities for Wesfarmers and attracts some of the best and brightest young business talent in the State. Graduates include Mr Goyder.
