Bikie charged over drug seizure

A bikie from the Rebels Motorcycle Club has been arrested after a raid at a Golden Bay property last week.

Police allege they found 2.3 kilograms of methamphetamine at the property on Friday, March 27.

A 29-year-old Port Kennedy man was charged with one count of possessing prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply.

He will appear in Perth Magistrate's Court today.

Police said the 2.3kg seizure was worth an estimated $1.5 million.

Organised Crime Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Hart said the seizure was evidence of bikie involvement in organised crime and their contribution to 'a widespread methamphetamine problem facing WA'.

“It also demonstrates willingness of OMCG’s to exploit the vulnerable in the community for their own gain,” he said.

“This seizure has a wholesale value of more than $600,000 but translates to 23,000 end user deals worth more than $1.5 million. This seizure will have a significant financial impact on the ROMCG.”
