UPDATE: Street View flasher falls foul of police

UPDATE: Police in the South Australian town of Port Pirie have reported a woman who flashed her breasts to a Google Street View camera.

The community of Port Pirie has dubbed Karen Davis the “Street View Streaker” and the “Footpath Flasher” for her efforts which have landed her on the pages of her local newspaper and now publications around the world.

And the 38-year-old embraced her new found notoriety but police in the regional town do not see the funny side.

Police from the Yorke Mid-North Local Service Area this afternoon reported to woman for disorderly behaviour.

Officer in Charge of the LSA Superintendent Scott Denny said the public expected the police to take action.

"Recently in Port Pirie we arrested a man for exposing himself in public - this incident is no different," he said.

"It is not appropriate for anyone to expose themselves in public places.

"Our community should be able to expect a bit of decency."

The woman will be summonsed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court at a later date.

Before she was called to speak to police, Ms Davis said the stunt amounted to the fulfillment of one of her life's ambitions.

“I look at Google Maps a lot and I wanted to be on there and I thought this is the way to do it,” she told the Port Pirie Recorder.

“I got to tick something else off my bucket list. I met Sam Newman and now I am on Google Maps.”

It has been several months since Ms Davis spotted the Google car travelling through her Port Pirie neighbourhood, but said she only became aware she had made it onto Street View in recent weeks.

The photograph shows Ms Davis with her arms raised above her head, and her shirt raised victoriously above her now famous tickets to internet fame.

While it briefly appeared uncensored, the page was promptly changed and her prides and joys were blurred out.

The site has since been updated again to completely obscure the image of Ms Davis.

The stunt has made her an instant local social media celebrity, although not everyone who has seen the photo has been impressed.

Comments on the Port Pirie Recorder’s Facebook page have varied between condemnation and congratulations.

Ms Davis does not appear fazed.

She said she had also been criticised for revealing her stunt had led to several Facebook friend requests from teenage boys.

“Haters hate, you got the guts to do it?” she posted on Facebook.

“All the flat-t***** chicks think I am disgusting. Big-boob envy has hit Port Pirie.”

She told The Advertiser she now plans to go topless sky-diving next year to celebrate her 40th birthday and was simply deleting any social media commentary that attacked her.

Google Street View is an online map service which shows real photographs of almost every street in the world.

To acquire the image the search giant has unleashed an enormous fleet of vehicles worldwide, equipped with 360 degree cameras to capture the images.

Ms Davis is not the first to pose for an oncoming Street View car – in the past the vehicles have captured everything from nudity to sex, to serious crime.
