Schools set for upgrade

Armadale's two public high schools will be upgraded under plans announced by the State Government yesterday.

The futures of the Armadale and Cecil Andrews Senior High Schools was secured with the Government deciding to spend about $9.4 million on infrastructure upgrades.

Armadale SHS will focus on vocational programs and Cecil Andrews on academics.

Works to be completed by the 2017 school year include a new commercial kitchen facility and upgrades to the cafeteria, food and textiles facilities for Armadale. The school will continue to offer building and construction programs and expand hospitality and allied health programs.

Cecil Andrews will get a new building for science, engineering and maths and introduce a new academic extension program for students in Years 7 to 10.
