Thrillseekers evacuated from famed rollercoaster

Thrillseekers were forced to climb down an 88-year-old wooden rollercoaster after the ride became stuck on its track on Sunday.

The historic Cyclone ride in New York’s Coney Island theme park was closed for the rest of the day for repairs after coming to a stop about noon because of an isolated mechanical issue.

No one was injured in the incident.

Park spokeswoman Erica Hoffman said staff helped passengers evacuate “one by one” and the ride was closed the rest of the day for repairs, spokeswoman Erica Hoffman said.
