Police busy with fatal crash probes

The aftermath of three fatal crashes yesterday morning is being felt in WA this morning as families and friends mourn four deaths and police try to piece together the circumstances of the separate crashes.

Crashes in Chidlow and Greenwood claimed the lives of two motorcycle riders while two people were killed and a third person was seriously injured in an early morning crash on Kwinana Freeway.

The carnage began when a truck, a van and a utility collided on the freeway near Thomas Road at 4.40am.

Today, police are calling for witnesses to the crashes.

CHIDLOW

At about 8.45am, a red Yamaha motorcycle and a white Toyota Hilux, both travelling in a south westerly direction on Elliot Road collided near Mathieson Road.

The 23-year-old male rider of the motorcycle received fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The 64-year-old female driver of the Toyota received serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on Elliott Road around the time of the crash who may have seen the crash or either of the vehicles prior to the crash.

THE SPECTACLES

At about 4:40am, a white Toyota HiAce van travelling in the south bound lanes on the Kwinana Freeway was struck by a Nissan semi-trailer, which then struck a red Holden Commodore utility.

A 62-year-old Bentley man, who was a passenger in the Toyota received fatal injuries and died at the scene.

A 57-year-old Leda man, the driver of the Nissan received life threatening injuries and was conveyed to the Fiona Stanley Hospital where he later died.

A 38-year-man, the driver of the Toyota was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment for injuries received in the crash.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or any of the three vehicles prior to the crash.


BALCATTA

At about 8:45am, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling south on the Mitchell Freeway (nearest exit Reid Highway) when it collided with the rear of a stationary green Hyundai coupe.

A 21-year-old Padbury man, who was the rider of the Harley Davidson, received life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he later died.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the Harley Davidson motorcycle prior to the crash.
