Delicacy justified her rock-bottom quote to give breeder-owners Bob and Sandra Peters their sixth win in the $250,000 Reliance Partners WA Oaks (2400m) at Ascot today.

Starting perhaps the shortest-priced favourite in Oaks history at $1.18, Delicacy made her rivals look second rate as expected.

Jockey William Pike settled the Al Maher filly in fourth position and she was poised to strike at the top of the straight.

Victorian raider Spectacular Vision ($6.50) hit the lead after racing outside of the leader for jockey Paul Harvey.

But Delicacy surged past the Peter Moody-trained filly at the 150m, soaring clear in the final stages to score by 2 ½ lengths.

Spectacular Vision held second and Keysbrook ($10) was third.

Delicacy, the surprise packet of the Peters’ outstanding black-type season, backed up her dominant wins in the Natasha Stakes (2200m) and Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m) at her past two starts.

She will start favourite in the $500,000 Schweppes WATC Derby (2400m) in a fortnight.

“I’ve never had one like this that just keeps getting better all the time,” Bob Peters said.

“Horses have a habit of letting you down but she doesn’t.”

Delicacy cracked the half-million-dollar mark in stake earnings with the win – her seventh from 11 starts.
