York Police were last night questioning four juveniles in relation to an alleged destructive crime spree in the town’s centre.

Memorial plaques at the town’s RSL were allegedly desecrated while five graffiti tags were sprayed along the club’s walls.

Two churches sustained damage, including broken windows and had items removed.

A vacant property currently up for sale had its swimming pool area coated in paint.

Police yesterday said the majority of destruction had been carried out by brut force with little evidence suggesting the alleged offenders used weapons or other tools to inflict damage to the properties.

York Police tweeted that they four juveniles in custody thanks to the assistance they received from the public.
