Jennifer Lawrence has spoken out in support of David O. Russell after reports emerged of a fiery feud between the pair.

The actress hit back at rumours she got into a heated argument with the director on the set of their movie Joy in Boston last week.

In a rare message on her Facebook page, Lawrence, 24, wrote: "David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I'm having a blast making it!"

A source told website TMZ.com that Russell allegedly screamed at her on set and later ordered producer Harvey Weinstein to leave when he showed up unannounced.

But a spokesperson for the movie's studio, Fox 2000, insisted Russell was merely helping Lawrence to get into the right frame of mind for an intense scene.
