We're not villains: MKR blondes

Despite their catty portrayal on My Kitchen Rules, *Katie Brooke *and *Nikki Spehar *say they are more likely to insult each other than their fellow teams.

Before their instant restaurant last night, the NSW butchers copped criticism from viewers for their harsh assessments of rivals, which often moved away from the food and into more personal territory.

However, Brooke and Spehar are defending their reputation as "villains", saying their playful nature has been taken out of context on screen.

"A lot of the time we sound really bitchy but we are actually being bitchy to each other," Brooke told _Access All Areas _.

"Like when I say 'She is so fat', I am pretty sure I am saying it about Nikki."

Spehar added: "Obviously the sarcasm doesn't come across on TV."

While a rivalry has played out between the two promo models and Victorian friends *Jane Kitson *and *Emma Wynne *over the past week, the women refused to say which team was more deserving of the villain tag.

Brooke said she would not judge the other cooks on what they said on camera because of the "selective editing".

"You don't know who is playing strategically in the background because you don't know how they scored and we don't know what was said about us until we watch the show," she explained.

While Brooke said the stress of being on the smash-hit Seven show had put pressure on some of the other teams' relationships, she and Spehar were still thick as thieves despite never having cooked together before the series.

"We are one of the only teams that are still super close, apart from the couples," the 21-year-old said. "We actually moved in together two weeks ago. We are pretty much together 24/7."

The two pals avoided elimination last night, with South Africans *Lynne * and *Tony Woodborne *going home, but will be on the chopping board this week during the redemption round, which will bring together the lowest-scoring teams from all three rounds.
