Sinclair joins Eagles wounded list

West Coast’s injury toll from Friday night’s NAB Challenge win over Carlton has risen, with Callum Sinclair ruled out for up to six weeks with a broken thumb.

The Eagles were already reeling after losing best and fairest Eric Mackenzie for the season with a serious knee injury. Sinclair’s injury means he is unlikely to be available for round one.

With Jack Darling, Scott Selwood and Mark Hutchings struggling to train over summer and Nic Naitanui experiencing back problems, West Coast’s injury list of key players is already large.

The club faces Port Adelaide at Norwood Oval on Sunday and the ruck duties will fall on Scott Lycett’s shoulders.

Sinclair has played nine AFL games, including four last season but with Dean Cox’s retirement, was set to become a more important player this season.
