Pet-sitter in demand over Easter

As hundreds of West Australians gear up for their next getaway at Easter, animal lover Judi Dale will also be packing her bags.

But it won't be for a typical family holiday.

Instead, the High Wycombe mother of five will be spending the Easter long weekend with friends of the four-legged kind.

Having been a registered pet-sitter for the past year, Ms Dale is regularly called on to care for people's pets, which have ranged from dogs, cats and horses to ducks, guinea pigs and even a snake.

"I did my first few pet-sits for family and friends about 18 months ago but it wasn't until my brother and his wife sold their house and packed up their caravan that I thought more seriously about it," she said.

But spending much of the busy holiday period as a sitter is just as much of an adventure for Ms Dale, who now has regular clients.

"Who wouldn't choose to have a break down by the beach for a week or two? That's the beauty of house pet-sitting right there, you always get to choose where you get to go next," she said.

"I think I've grown very accustomed to the gypsy life."
