iiNet poaches Officeworks CFO

iiNet has poached Officeworks chief financial officer Michael Howard from Wesfarmers.

Mr Howard will start work as the internet service provider's new chief financial officer next month.

Chief executive officer David Buckingham said he was delighted to have secured such a strong candidate after an extensive search.

"Michael has an impressive background in large and respected Australian retail companies and his appointment is a coup for iiNet," he said.

"With over 20 years of experience in the competitive retail landscape, he brings the ideal credentials to help iiNet continue to grow by providing the best products and services for our customers."

Prior to his appointment as chief financial officer with Officeworks in 2007, Mr Howard held senior financial and business planning positions at Bunnings and Coles Myer.

"Having been a customer for many years, I have much admired the way iiNet has gone about growing their business," Mr Howard said.

"I am very much looking forward to joining the team and contributing to their future success."

Mr Howard replaces Mr Buckingham, who was promoted from chief financial officer to chief executive when Michael Malone left the company in March last year.

iiNet shares were off 19 cents, or 2.53 per cent, to $7.31 at 12.45pm.
