In an effort to help Peel's tourism industry better connect with potential customers, the Tourism Council of WA and Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation are holding a series of e-marketing workshops in February.

MAPTO chief executive Steven Holle said two workshops, catering for different needs, would alert the region's operators on how to reach customers a different way.

"Nowadays, people are researching and booking their holidays online," he said.

He said the workshops would be technically orientated and show business owners how varying online platforms, such as websites and Facebook, can open up new doors.

"Online is accessible and cheap, which means small players can find opportunities there."

Mr Holle said its Anytime Adventure campaign had gained momentum and believed operators could tap into the idea that within an hour's drive of Perth, there was fun all year round in Mandurah and Peel.

He said in order for the Peel tourism industry to truly succeed, each operator needed to play its part.

Mr Holle said the circle was important and if each worked to a similar e-marketing goal, the outcome could be beneficial for the whole region.

The first workshop will target operators who do not have an online presence and the second is for those who have a minor online connection with customers but could use some pointers on how to increase it.

After the workshops, the Tourism Council is hosting a networking evening, where participants can share ideas with other players.
