Junaid Thorne backs Charlie Hebdo killing

Self-styled Islamic preacher Mohammed Junaid Thorne has voiced his support for the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris.

Thorne left Perth late last year saying he would probably move to Sydney to live in a bigger Muslim community.

He was linked with terrorism raids and suspects in the Eastern States.

Within hours of the Paris attacks in which 12 people were killed he said that insulting someone's prophet would cause a backlash.

And he warned that those wanting to enjoy freedom of speech should expect others to exercise freedom of action.

The self-styled preacher has previously used social media to voice his support for Islamic State terrorists.

In August he said that slamic scholars who supported IS were "known for speaking the truth", were in prisons, on the front lines and "in the battlefields, backing their words with actions".

A fighter of the Islamic State militant group also praised the attack.

"The lions of Islam have avenged our Prophet," said Abu Mussab, a Syrian who fights with the Islamic State.

"These are our lions. It's the first drops - more will follow," he said, speaking via an internet connection from Syria. He added that he and his fellow fighters were happy about the incident.

"Let these crusaders be scared because they should be."
