A Bali restaurateur has refused a compensation offer from Perth brothers who allegedly laughed as they urinated on his personal temple - then bottled him over the head.

If charged and convicted, Tim O'Hehir, 27, and brother Scott, 32, face possible jail terms of up to four years after the drunken altercation on Friday night in Kuta.

Wayan Mudipa, who owns the Apa Kabar Restaurant in North Kuta, said he feared for his life after confronting the brothers, claiming they laughed when he took offence at them urinating on the small temple outside his premises.

Balinese police said yesterday that the 35-year-old business owner had refused an offer of restitution from the brothers. In a statement to police, Mr Mudipa said the brothers came to his restaurant drunk and when he castigated them for urinating, they allegedly turned violent, attacking him with a beer bottle.

He claimed the brothers also threatened to kill him. The restaurateur required medical treatment for cuts to his face and hands.

The brothers were questioned by police, with North Kuta Police Commissioner Ronny Erippang saying they had offered to settle the matter with Mr Mudipa but he refused.

Scott O'Hehir is a director at human resources firm Checkside, based in Perth. His brother Tim works as a dentist in Singapore.
