Strange flash turns Russian night into day

A massive flash of light seen above the sky in Russia has prompted a rash of conspiracy theories as authorities refuse to comment.

The Siberian Times reported that the orange flash lit up the night at 5.39pm local time, November 14 on a road close to Yekaterinburg.

Shots of the glow were captured on a dashboard camera common in Russian cars.

The person who shot the footage said on a website he saw a flash in the sky on the road on the way to the town of Rezh.

"I found nothing about it in the news. Did anyone else see it? What was it?"

Another witness told the Siberian Times the night was turned into a dazzling day then everything went dark again.

Theories for the light include a missile or even a UFO.

Officials from the regional emergencies ministry refused to comment and a local observatory said nothing fell from the sky on the day of the flash.
