Driver blew 0.321, six times the limit

A man allegedly caught driving at more than six times the legal limit was recovering in Royal Perth Hospital last night after being found unconscious at the wheel.

Cannington Police patrolling the Rivervale area saw the 33-year-old Belmont man slumped over his steering wheel in a stationary vehicle at a set of green traffic lights.

A breath test at the scene allegedly showed in a 0.321 blood alcohol level and further tests at Cannington Police Station allegedly resulted in a 0.353 reading.

The man was taken to hospital via St John Ambulance and has been charged with driving under the influence.

He will appear in court at a later date.
