Wildcats give Kings a lesson

The Perth Wildcats moved into equal first place on the NBL ladder with a dominant 85-66 win on the road against Sydney today.

The game was billed as a rematch between Josh Childress and Jesse Wagstaff following the now-infamous clash between the two in Perth last month.

But there were few fireworks as the Wildcats controlled the second half to register a 16th consecutive win over the Kings.

US import Jermaine Beal is in line for NBL Player of the Week honours after scoring a game-high 27 points, following on from his 29-point haul in the home win over Townsville on Friday.

DeAndre Daniels (19 points, eight rebounds) and Matt Knight (16 points, eight rebounds) were also influential as the Wildcats won the battle on the glass and continued to show improvement with their offensive game plan.

Former NBA veteran Childress continued his strong from with 23 points and 12 rebounds, but was one of few players to step up for the Kings.

Former Wildcats forward Tom Garlepp had 15 points for the home side.

The Wildcats now face arguably their toughest week of the season, with road trips to Adelaide (Friday) and Melbourne (Sunday) in round seven.

Friday’s game will be the first the Wildcats have met the 36ers since last season’s grand final series.
