Gandalf gives students study tips

Sir Ian McKellen broke out into an impromptu Gandalf the Grey performance to inspire a group of students to study.

The actor who plays the wise wizard in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, paid the lucky kids of Chew Valley School in England a visit.

And speaking before a crowd, he twisted one of Gandalf's most iconic lines into a new context - to excellent effect.

He asked the students: "In your preparations for your examinations, if you don't do your revision properly, you know what will happen?

"You shall not pass!"

It caused the delighted students to cheer and break into applause at the unexpected performance.
