Two drunk driving charges in one night

A 42-year-old Willagee man was allegedly caught drink driving twice overnight.

At about 1am today, officers from the Regional Operations Group saw a vehicle conduct an illegal u-turn on Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis.

Officers tried to stop the driver but he continued to drive south along Kwinana Freeway.

He eventually stopped in an emergency lane after about 5km.

Police took the man to Rockingham police station for a breath test and told him he faced several traffic charges.

He was released but spotted less than an hour later, this time driving north on Kwinana Freeway.

The car was stopped on North Lake Road, Cockburn Central, and the man was taken to Palmyra Police Station where he allegedly failed the second breath test.

He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, no authority to drive, and failing to stop.

He was bailed to appear in the Fremantle Magistrate's Court on October 29.
