Tom Price fire continues to burn unpredictably

The fire approaches the outskirts of Tom Price.

A watch and act remains in place for an out of control bush fire burning dangerously close to the Tom Price town site.

Twenty volunteer fire and rescue service crews and local mine site crews have been battling the blaze which has so far burnt approximately 65,000 hectares of land.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has told residents who plan to leave or are not prepared to fight the fire to leave town now.

Any Tom Price residents out of town are being asked not to return home due to dangerous conditions.

Bingarn Road is closed and DFES is asking road users to be wary of emergency services personnel.

The fire is burning on a number of fronts including in bushland surrounding Tom Price and bushland to the west of Karijini National Park.

The blaze is now moving fast in a west south westerly direction and is unpredictable.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
