A wig mistake by axed Rochelle

Soul singer Rochelle Pitt has admitted poor styling could have been why she was eliminated from The X Factor this week.

The Cairns mother of four was booted off the Seven reality singing search on Monday following her performance of Gossip's Heavy Cross the previous night, where she wore a questionable blonde wig and skin-tight outfit.

Judge Dannii Minogue questioned whether the wig was the right choice for Pitt and said it could turn viewers off.

"I thought I might stay for another couple of weeks at least. I could have lost some of the votes because of the wig," Pitt told AAA yesterday.

"I don't know about the performance as such, which is rock and not in my area, but I gave it a good go anyway . . . the outfit I don't know, it could have swayed a few people's votes.

"We weren't going with the wig and I wasn't sure, but they all said it looked good and I am open to trying new things."

The 41-year-old registered nurse said Redfoo was just "OK" as her mentor because he seemed to be quite busy with his own career away from the series.

"He was OK," she said. "We had him a couple of times in the week. Probably two or three times a week because he is probably busy with his stuff as well."

Pitt returned to Queensland last night to reunite with her children, who range in age from two to 11 years, for the first time in two weeks.

"I have had my family watching my kids for me and I can't wait to see them," she said. "That's why I am not too sad as I just can't wait to go home."

She added that appearing on The X Factor had given her confidence in her voice and she wanted to release her own album, if only to tick it off her bucket list.

"It's knowing that when you leave this earth you have left something for others and you have left a mark of yourself," she said.
