Kidman panned for butterfly dress

Aussie star Nicole Kidman was covered in butterflies at the London premiere of her new film Before I Go To Sleep.

She wore a Valentino olive green dress, with a plunging neckline and sheer sleeves, featuring blue, pink and silver butterflies.

Kidman finished her outfit with a silver beaded necklace and gold peep toe shoes, wearing her hair off her face in a relaxed low ponytail.

The Daily Mirror panned her outfit, deeming it a fashionfail.

"The bizarre butterfly pattern distracted from her gorgeous face, and the mucky green colour did nothing for her Snow White complexion.

"To make matters worse, the Australia actress added a heavily beaded necklace to an already very busy outfit - there was just too much going on."

But a picture of her outfit she posted to Facebook has received around 2.6 million likes.

Kidman co-stars with Colin Firth in the screen adaption of S J Watson's best selling thriller about a woman with amnesia.

The duo recently worked together on Second World War memoir adaptation The Railway Man, and had been due to co-star in the film version of Paddington until Firth decided to quit, saying his voice was not right for Paddington Bear, relinquishing his role to Ben Whishaw.

Before I Go To Sleep opens in Australian cinemas on October 16.
