Pervert jailed for hidden filming
A man caught secretly filming his stepdaughters and one of their teenage friends in the family home's shower, then sharing some of the video on a Russian child pornography website in exchange for access to similar material has been sentenced to nearly five years jail.
Imposing a four-year and 10-month prison term on Friday, District Court Judge Mark Herron said the man's behaviour involved a gross violation of privacy and abuse of trust that the offender did not properly appreciate.
The man, whose name is suppressed to protect the identity of his victims, pleaded guilty to a total of 27 charges, including indecently recording a de facto child, indecently recording a child aged over 13 and under 16 and distributing child exploitation material.
The offences were committed over 22 months between August 2011, when the man installed a covert audio-visual recording device in a bathroom vanity cupboard, and last November when police searched his home.
The man will be eligible for parole after serving two years and 10 months.
