'Drunk driver' tracked by police dog

A police dog has tracked down an alleged drink driver who fled from a crash in Mirrabooka last night.

A 42-year-old Ballajura man is alleged to have left on foot after crashing a blue Mitsubishi Magda into a tree on Reid Highway, near Alexander Drive at about 10.10pm.

A police dog named Freddie tracked a scent to Northwood Drive where the man was arrested.

The man is alleged to have failed a breath test at the scene and a second test at Mirrabooka Police Station.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by having a blood alcohol level above 0.15.
