Man tries to pull teenage girl into van

Police are hunting a man who indecently assaulted a teenager and tried to pull her into his van in Carnarvon.

The girl was targeted by a tattooed man in a white van as she walked along Carnarvon Road at about 11am on August 11.

The man asked her for directions and to use her mobile phone but, when she refused, became abusive and grabbed her arm, trying to pull her into his van.

The man indecently assaulted the girl before she managed to break free from him.

He is described has being aged between 28 and 32 years old, about 183cm tall, with a slim build, short brown hair, brown eyes, with fair skin and a tan.

He had a distinctive cross tattoo on his right forearm and was wearing a white Bintang singlet and black board shorts.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area or with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stopper on 1800 333 000.
