Injury sidelines Eagle Brown

West Coast defender Mitch Brown will miss Saturday’s season-defining match against the Gold Coast after succumbing to a nagging foot injury, and is no guarantee of being available should the club snag a finals berth.

It is understood the 25-year-old has been dealing with the injury for a number of weeks, but was ruled out today after complaining of soreness.

He will be listed as a test next week should other results fall in West Coast’s favour this weekend.

Brown was one of three players changes to the team which beat Melbourne at the weekend, with Dean Cox rested and Mark Hutchings suffering a hamstring injury.

Cox's omission means the 2006 premiership star will have already played his last AFL game if West Coast lose this week.

Midfield duo Scott Selwood and Elliot Yeo have both been named to return from long-term injuries, with Nic Naitanui, Jacob Brennan, Blayne Wilson and Ash Smith the other inclusions.

Gold Coast have lost defender Trent McKenzie to a hamstring injury, with Matthew Warnock, Greg Broughton, Henry Schade and Louis Herbert all a chance to replace him.

Both 25-man squads will be cut by three tomorrow.
