Taylor Swift says she cries "every time" she sees Blue Ivy Carter.

The hitmaker has admitted she can't hold back the tears whenever she sees Beyonce and Jay Z's adorable two-year-old daughter.

Taking to Twitter to sum up her MTV Video Music Awards experience, she wrote: "Thoughts: I'm glad everyone's discovering Jessie J!

"Met Iggy in an elevator and she was super nice. Every time I see Blue Ivy, I cry. #VMAs"

The 24-year-old singer was at the annual award show yesterday, WA time, to perform her new single Shake It Up live for the first time ever.

She also tweeted to share her excitement at seeing good friends Ed Sheeran and Lorde pick up their first VMAs.

Sheeran's collaboration with Pharrell Williams earned him the Best Male Video, while the 17-year-old singer earned the Best Rock Video for her track 'Royals'.

Swift wrote: "So basically I'm LOSING MY LITTLE MIND because tonight I got to see my friends @edsheeran and @lordemusic with their first #VMAs."

Elsewhere, Beyonce swept the board with four prizes, while Miley Cyrus' Video of the Year gong was accepted by her homeless friend Jesse.
