Charge over fire, stabbing

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with criminal damage by fire over a suspected arson attack in Doubleview on Wednesday night.

The Sorrento man has also been charged with doing an act likely to cause bodily harm over threats he allegedly made before setting the fire.

He was remanded in custody last night and will face Perth Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The fire caused more than $200,000 damage to the Flamborough Street home.

Detectives are investigating a suspected link between the fire and the stabbing of a 33-year-old man in Sorrento earlier on Wednesday night.
