Charges over Morley assault

A 46-year-old man has been charged over an alleged assault at the Morley bus port which left the victim partly paralysed.

Jeffrey Butler was waiting for his 18-year-old son to pick him up from the bus port about 6.30pm on January 31 when a man and two others allegedly offered to sell him drugs.

When Mr Butler refused he was verbally abused then allegedly punched under the jaw.

He received minor injuries but suffered a stroke two weeks later because of a punctured artery stemming from the attack that caused a blood clot in his brain.

Mr Butler is now paralysed down the right side of his body.

A Rivervale man is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court today charged with grievous bodily harm.
