Charges over attempted car-jacking

Attempted car-jacking prompts warning to lock doors

Kensington detectives have charged a man over an attempted car-jacking in East Victoria Park this morning.

The man is alleged to have pulled the vehicle’s 20-year-old owner from his car while it was parked outside a Forward Street worksite about 6.40am.

The man told the victim to get on the ground and allegedly claimed he was armed before getting in the car.

Unable to find the keys, the man demanded the owner hand them over before allegedly punching him twice to the neck.

The accused fled when the victim’s workmates arrived.

A 27-year-old Marangaroo man is due to face Perth Magistrate’s Court tomorrow charged with armed assault with intent to rob.

He has been refused bail.
