Car smashes through bedroom wall

A young East Victoria Park couple were left shaken this morning after a car cannoned through their side fence and into a bedroom wall.

The Ford had been travelling along Shepperton Road towards the city when witnesses said the driver attempted a U-turn.

The vehicle crossed to the incorrect side of the road before breaking through two sets of bollards and a small roadside grass reserve.

The car continued another 20m before smashing through two fences at separate Swansea Street properties.

Sam, who rents the house where the vehicle came to rest, said she and her partner were lucky to have not slept in as the car hit the outside wall of their bedroom.

Photographs taken inside the house show large cracks running down a wall.

Sam described hearing a "really loud bang" about 9am.

"We didn't know what had happened ... it's not something that you expect being this far from Shepperton Road," she said.

"Thankfully we didn't sleep in and there are no injuries. It could have been a lot worse."

Paramedics and police attended the scene.

The 38-year-old driver, from Alkimos, was taken to hospital where he will undergo drug and alcohol testing.
