Mt Lawley school taking shape

Behind Mt Lawley Primary School's 100-year-old facade, a two-storey, 21st century school building is rapidly taking shape to replace those gutted by fire two years ago.

Students who will be among the Year 6 leaders when it re-opens next year had a sneak preview of the new facilities yesterday.

Students have been based in transportable classrooms at Mt Lawley Senior High School since the blaze.

"We all remember the day just a couple of years ago when this school burnt to the ground," Education Minister Peter Collier said. "Now we have a state-of-the-art $11.2 million facility."
