Dannii targets petite market

The Minogues have always been known as the pint-sized sisters of Australian showbiz.

But not everyone realises the difficulty Dannii Minogue has had in finding clothes to fit her 157cm frame.

From tailoring her pyjamas to having clothes custom made to suit her small stature, The X Factor judge has tried it all.

And, recognising that other women are likely to have the same issues as her, Minogue has teamed up with Target to launch a petites range covering everything from office attire to race wear and everyday basics.

"I have said to Target 'Be prepared for when this lands in store and women go and try it on in the change room'," Minogue told AAA with a laugh.

"I guarantee you there will be some women who cry a few little happy tears because something fits finally. It's just a feeling of 'Oh my God, I exist', because you walk into stores and you feel like you don't exist when there is nothing that fits you."

Minogue previously ran high-end fashion label Project D in London, which was seen on identities such as Princess Mary of Denmark, the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa Middleton.

But she is glad the Target range appeals to a wider audience, saying the response to the collection's catwalk launch earlier this year was "incredible".

"It was a great moment where we put so much work into it and to have it ready for the runway so early in the year was difficult, but the response was huge," Minogue said. "The girls who were not able to buy my Project D range in London because it was out of their budget, they were like 'tick tick tick' now. The prices are insane."

With X Factor heading into live shows this Sunday, Minogue is taking on yet another new challenge as she mentors the groups category for the first time.

"It is my sixth year now, so it had to happen at some point," she said.

"When I got them I was really excited but it is a lot more work, which is why everyone tries not to get groups. But I am up for it."

Dannii Minogue for Target Petites is in stores today. The X Factor airs on Sunday at 6.30pm on Seven/GWN7.
