Police pursue alleged home invaders

Geraldton Police have arrested and charged two men after a home invasion and pursuit in the past week.

On August 2, at least two men allegedly forced their way into a Mahomets Flats home at about 11pm.

Police believe one of the men was armed with a gun. A male occupant was inside the home at the time.

Senior Sergeant Martin Haime said the men stole a number of household items before fleeing.

Police arrested one of the alleged offenders yesterday after he was seen driving a stolen car on Abraham Street in Utakarra.

The 19-year-old Geraldton man allegedly abandoned the vehicle after a short police pursuit and was located nearby.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a second male later yesterday.

Police charged the 19-year-old man with firearms, burglary and driving offences.

The second male, aged 30, was charged with multiple burglary offences.

Both are due to appear in Geraldton Magistrate's Court today.

Snr Sgt Haime said enquiries into the Mahomets Flats incident were continuing, as police believed a third person could have been involved.
