Perth's Renae Ayris has gone from strength to strength since taking out the Miss Universe Australia title in 2012.

Following in the footsteps of Dannii Minogue, Ayris has just been named the face of Holster's Sunrise To Sunset collection.

Connolly-raised Ayris says she is excited and honoured to be the new ambassador for the footwear brand's new collection.

"Holster really fits me as a brand," Ayris explained to AAA.

"Holster is Australian-owned and I met the owners - they're really down-to-earth, great people. They're all about the beach vibe and grew up on the beach in Noosa, and I'm the same in Perth. It fits really well," she said.

Ayris loves that you can dress up or dress down the sandals to suit just about any occasion, meaning they are versatile enough to transition from the beach to the bar.

"You know when sometimes you wear your thongs in the morning to go to the beach and you're prepared for a big day, then you go to lunch, if you're throwing on a pair of Holsters it takes you up that one level dressier.

"When you do go out you're not just in flip-flops, you're in a nice pair of sandals. They have a beautiful range of colours and they're really comfortable - I live in them in summer."

Now based in Sydney for work, Ayris recently celebrated her one-year anniversary with Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers, making the trip down to Melbourne for the occasion.

"I flew to Melbourne and was there for a few days so we went out for dinner. I'm in Melbourne a lot - I travel back and forwards, which is good. I think every two weeks I've been going there for the weekends," she said.

Though Ayris admits that being in a long-distance relationship is difficult, she and Bellchambers do everything they can to make it work and are very supportive of each other's careers.

"It's not easy. It's difficult but we make it work. We're only an hour apart so that's not too bad," she said. "He's a very supportive boyfriend. He has a very busy career with football; we're both really busy so we're in the same boat I guess."
