A man has died at the scene of a crash in Rockingham this afternoon.

It happened about 12.40pm when a car collided with a tree before bursting into flames at the intersection of Patterson and Alumina Road.

St John's Ambulance and fire crews attended the scene, but police have since confirmed the 72-year0old man died.

It is understood that he was not in the vehicle when the car was engulfed by flames.

Meanwhile, in Inglewood a cyclist has been left with broken bones following a crash with another vehicle.

The accident occurred about 3.45pm while the cyclist was travelling along Dundas Road near Hamer Parade.
