Breath test leads to weapons charges

Police searching a car in Osborne Park last night allegedly uncovered a rifle, ammunition and drugs.

Officers were conducting Breath and Drug Operations on Jon Sanders Drive about 9pm when they stopped a Ford Falcon sedan.

While searching the car, officers found items including a .22 bolt action rifle, rounds of ammunition and a small amount of a crystal substance believed to be amphetamines, police allege.

A 24-year-old Oldbury man has been charged with possessing an unlicensed firearm and possessing an article in a manner likely to cause fear.

A 31-year-old Gosnells man will be summoned to appear in court for possessing a prohibited drug and possessing an article in a manner likely to cause fear.

The Oldbury man is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on August 8.
