Staff at a Broome service station were left shaken after they were threatened by an armed assailant brandishing a spear gun.

A man entered the Caltex Broome North station along Mavis Road at about 8pm, where he demanded cash from the two on-duty staff members.

After handing over an unknown amount, the offender took off and was last seen fleeing by foot along Gunbinge Road.

Broome police are now on the hunt for the man, who was wearing a grey hoodie jumper at the time of the hold-up.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
