Sydnee's X-tra special finale

The X Factor has already seen its fair share of jaw-dropping talent this season but it seems they may have saved the best until last.

Perth teen Sydnee Carter was the final contestant shown during the audition round in last night's episode before the cream of the crop move through to boot camp on Sunday.

And the 16-year-old certainly finished with a bang, moving judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte to tears with her acoustic cover of Youth by Daughter.

After telling the star panel she had been playing guitar since she was six, Wanneroo-raised Carter won a standing ovation for a performance that Ronan Keating said displayed talent beyond her years.

"Every once in a while we as judges are lucky enough to witness something really, really special," he said.

"At 16 years of age to understand how to sing, perform, play and be like that is incredible."

Brushing away tears, Bassingthwaighte said Carter's voice was "heavenly".

"I am finding it hard to speak because I don't have the words to say how insane that was," she said.

Redfoo was equally impressed, telling the young singer: "You don't need The X Factor - The X Factor needs you."

The four judges unanimously voted to send the Sacred Heart College student through to boot camp.

Carter unsuccessfully auditioned for the series last year but told Access All Areas that busking at Fremantle Markets on weekends had helped her build up the confidence to try again.

"I auditioned for The X Factor because I really wanted to get into music," she said.

"That's what I want to do when I finish school, I want to go to WAAPA, so I thought what better way to get into doing what I want to do when I leave school than to audition."

Echoing what she told the judges during her audition last night, Carter added she didn't want to be compared with any other musician as she has her own sound.

"I like to think I am not just a singer," she said. "I am an artist because I have my own style and I write my own songs."
