Escaped prisoner on run

A prisoner remains on the run after escaping from custody during a hospital transfer.

Michael James Hayward, 20, was being transferred from hospital back to prison yesterday morning when he managed escaped from guards.

He was last seen at the intersection of Albany Highway and South West Highway in Armadale at about 10.25am.

Hayward is about 170cm tall, with a slim build and light skin.

He was last seen wearing prison greens and has a cast on his right arm.

Police advised people not to approach Hayward but to report sightings to on 131 444.

The escape is the latest in a series of incidents involving prisoner transfers.

Prisoner Darren Goldsworthy escaped custody from a Shenton Park hospital in May and was on the run for an hour before being recaptured.

Early this year rapist Cameron John Graham, 22, and Kelden Edward Fraser, 23, escaped while being transferred from Greenough Regional Prison in Geraldton.
