Police probe weekend road deaths

Major crash investigators are calling for information about a head-on collision which claimed the life of a 21-year-old Safety Bay woman yesterday.

The woman was driving a dark green Nissan Pulsar west along Toodyay Road about 12.35pm, when she collided with a white Mitsubishi Triton ute which was towing a trailer and travelling east.

The 21-year-old woman died at the scene.

The driver of the ute – a 28-year-old High Wycombe man - was taken to Swan Districts Hospital with minor injuries.

Earlier yesterday, a 72-year-old truck driver from Narembeen was killed when his truck rolled near Dwellingup.

About 7.55am, the man was driving a truck and trailer west along the Pinjarra-Williams Road, about 6km west of Dwellingup.

As he was negotiating a downhill bend, his Volvo prime mover crossed to the other side of the road and struck a steel barrier.

It rolled over the barrier and came to rest upside down on a steep embankment.

Overnight on Saturday, a 24-year-old Albany woman died after rolling her car in Jerramungup.

Some time between midnight Saturday and 7.20am Sunday, the woman was driving a red Chrysler hatchback south on the South Coast Highway.

She lost control of the car which rolled several times before stopping on its roof.

The woman died as a result of her injuries.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either incident or saw any of the vehicles before the crashes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
