Toy gun used in robbery
A man who allegedly claimed he was armed when he demanded cash from a woman at an ATM was found in a car with alleged drugs and toy guns last night.
Police have charged the 27-year-old Calingiri man with attempted armed robbery after he was allegedly driving a ute which had the same registration as a ute used by a man in an alleged attempted armed robbery yesterday morning.
A woman gave the registration details of the vehicle to police after she was approached by a man at an ATM in Rivervale at about 7.40am.
The man allegedly demanded cash before showing her a gun.
The woman cancelled her transaction and returned to her car, while the man went into a white Holden Commodore ute.
At 9.45pm, police on patrol stopped the same ute and took two men into custody.
During a search of the ute, officers allegedly found methylamphetamine, cannabis and two toy guns.
The 27-year-old passenger was released without charge.
The charged man was refused bail and will appear in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court today.
Police are continuing their investigations into the alleged drugs.
