Taylor opens heart to fans

Since walking off the stage as last year's X Factor runner-up, Taylor Henderson has been working on revealing himself in his new album Burnt Letters.

The singer-songwriter wants to give his fans something raw and real in his new album and believes the most attractive quality in a song, and a person, is honesty.

"(Honesty's) quite attractive and I think it's admirable in someone, so why not bring that into my music," Henderson told AAA.

"All the songs are about real things and I've definitely not put a song on there that I'm half-hearted about.

"It's taken a long time but it's exactly how I wanted it to sound and I'm very happy that it's finally here."

The 21-year-old now lives a life that's a far cry from the one he used to have in a small country town in Victoria but his latest track Already Gone shows he hasn't forgotten where he came from.

"It's very much about growing up and moving away," Henderson said.

"I love what I do now, I wouldn't change it for a thing but, at the same time, I miss the simplicity of being home."

With the return of X Factor, the former contestant is eager to see how others prove themselves on the competitive Seven reality talent quest.

"I think there's going to be some amazing talent on there," he said. "Who knows, I might be working with some of them one day."

He's also got some pearls of wisdom for the next round of star hopefuls.

"You need to somehow let your personality shine through when you're on that stage for those two minutes," he said.

"Because you need to sing down a lens through a camera into someone's lounge room and make that person pick up a phone and vote for you.

"You have to be very real and honest with yourself."
