WA Police are hunting for a 45-year-old man after one of the biggest seizures of ephedrine in the State.
During raids in January in West Perth and Belmont 24kg of the drug, which could produce $10 million of amphetamines, was seized.
A 20-year-old Canadian man was arrested and charged at the time, but police say they are yet to locate 45-year-old Victorian Hoa Xuan Bui who is suspected of being one of the Australian-based ringleaders of the operation.
The ephedrine is believed to have been shipped to Australia via Vietnam and Cambodia inside stuffed toys.
A third man has also been arrested in Cambodia after allegedly being caught with a further 11kg of the drug which police say was also destined for Australia.
In January, 4kg of the drug was located at an apartment complex in West Perth.
Searches of another location in Belmont then lead to the recovery of a further 20kg hidden in a backpack.
Police did not release details of the seizure at the time because they were unable to locate Mr Bui.
It is believed he is no longer in WA and may have returned to his home State of Victoria
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
