Car search leads to drugs charges

A man has been charged after police allegedly found drugs and a loaded gun during a search of a car in Marangaroo last night.

Detectives charged the 23-year-old Girrawheen man after they allegedly found a small amount methylamphetamine and a loaded handgun during the search of the Holden Cruze he was a passenger in.

The officers stopped the man on Highclere Boulevard.

The man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, having no authority to drive, possessing a firearm with circumstances of aggravation, being unlicensed to possess a firearm or ammunition, possessing a prohibited drug and having ready access to weapons and illegal drugs.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
