Serial paedophile Dennis McKenna appeared in the Katanning Magistrate’s Court this morning facing two fresh charges relating to allegations of historic child sex assaults.

McKenna, 69, appeared on a video link from Acacia Prison and did not enter pleas on charges of committing indecent practices between males in public or private and indecently treating a child aged under 14.

Last month Child Abuse Squad detectives laid an additional two charges against McKenna relating to historic child offences.

It was alleged that the incidents occurred between 1975 and 1988 while McKenna was the warden of Katanning’s St Andrew’s Hostel.

Today, Magistrate Robert Young adjourned the charges to the Perth Magistrate’s Court on August 11.
